Optical drive company Lite-On IT has cracked the 20x writing speed for the first time and launched DVD writers capable of doing just that. The Taiwanese manufacturer has bought out two internal disc drives, the LH-20A1P and the LH-20A1H.

LG has finally launched its Artistic Series of monitors to UK consumers eager to get their hands on them, a whole three months after unveiling them at a trade show in Germany. Both 17-inch and 19-inch versions of the slinky screens have now made their great escape into UK shops.

It wasn’t surprising that all of Sony’s new PlayStation 3 consoles sold out on the first day when they went on sale in Japan on Friday, as there were only 80,000 up for grabs. But it never fails to amaze us the price people are prepared to pay to get their hands on one. |

TVonics is wearing its nationality with pride as it declares itself the only digital video recorder (DVR) currently on the market that is designed and made by Brits. Not content with wrapping itself in the Union Jack, the firm has also added a shade of green to its wardrobe with its attitude to power use.

Archos has updated the camera kit that lets you turn its portable media players into a video camcorder. The Helmet Camcorder now works with Generation 4 Archos media players and is small enough to attach to the side of your head for some wicked shots.

A report by Nokia claims that portable TV will make for a more personal experience than sitting around watching a big flat screen with your mates – something we could have told them if they had only asked. However, the study by Dr Shani Orgad from the London School of Economics does make some valid points.
