hauppauge.jpgWhile Microsoft is busy unwrapping its shiny new operating system for the great unwashed, other companies are spending this precious time positioning themselves as ready for Windows Vista. And although the response to Vista has been ranging from so what to who cares, at least it's good to know that some companies are touting that their products work just as well with the new OS and you don't have to throw away that computer you only just bought last year as it is chronically under spec'd.

TV card vendor Hauppauge said that its entire range of products is compatible with the new OS with new software drivers. These drivers will be included with all Hauppauge product shipped from today, and existing owners of Hauppauge products who are upgrading to Vista can download the drivers free from www.hauppauge.co.uk. Owners of PCs running Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate will see the message "tuner not installed" if they select Live TV without first installing a compatible TV card.

"With the introduction of Media Center as a standard part of the most popular versions of Windows Vista, the demand for TV cards is going to multiply," said Yehia Oweiss, European VP of Sales, Hauppauge Digital. "We can offer Vista users the widest range of TV tuners to give them live TV on the desktop or laptop, expanding their entertainment experience."

Although your TV tuner will play nicely with Vista it's a shame that you will have to shell out for a powerful brand new graphics card just to get a decent picture on the OS.
