Page 1 of 2 Bond fans can rest assured that the British future of the franchise is safe in Pinewood’s hands following the reopening of a soundstage that had been closed by fire. The 007 Stage was one of the largest in the world at 45,000 square feet. However, the newly-built stage has a usable area of just over 59,000 square feet using the same building space, thanks to improved structural design.
That increase in space makes the 007 Stage the largest in Europe with a capacity of 2000 people. New features include an immense tank capable of holding 5.25 million litres, a vehicle access ramp directly into the tank, aircraft hangar-style loading doors and improved sound proofing. A website has been launched to celebrate the reopening, where fans can see pictures and video of the building – including a 3D flythrough of the sound stage that’s like going down the length of a Star Destroyer.
