As we announced yesterday, Hauppauge has managed to make its products work with Vista (well someone has to!) Today the purveyor of TV tuner cards has bought out a USB TV tuner on a stick.
But that's not all. Yes we have seen lots of TV tuner sticks in the past but what sets this one apart from the competition is this one has twin tuners. The WinTV Nova-TD, has "Antenna Diversity" technology to improve TV reception in marginal Freeview areas. The technology allows two aerials to be connected to the two built-in tuners, combining the signals to boost reception. In stronger reception areas, the Diversity technology can allow reception on the move, such as in a car or on a train. When connected to two aerials with good reception, Hauppauge's Diversity stick can also operate as a twin tuner, allowing owners to watch one channel whilst recording another to hard disk. The Nova-TD Stick is supplied with two high gain indoor aerials. Hauppauge is flogging these sticks for £79.99 and it said that the tuner is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Media Center Edition (MCE), and the shiny new Windows Vista operating system. But better still, we'll be able to record Life on Mars while watching Newsnight. |
