Microsoft will give European gamers their first taste of IPTV next month, when it shows off the service at The Connected Home Show. Those lucky enough to squint their square eyes in that direction will finally get to see what all the fuss is about.
The demo takes place as part of the IPTV World Forum in London’s Olympia from 5-7 March. Microsoft expects to have a fully-functioning IPTV service running on the Xbox 360 as early as Christmas 2007, depending on service provider support. Ed Graczyk, worldwide director of marketing and communications for Microsoft TV, made a statement that included the words “unique”, “exciting” and “experiences”, before spoiling things with phrases like “value proposition” and “industry-leading solutions”. Graczyk will be the one handling the demonstration during his keynote speech at the conference, entitled The Future of Connected Entertainment. “The demonstration will showcase what happens when next-generation television is combined with next-generation gaming in a unique, new service delivered by your broadband provider,” a Microsoft press release said earlier today. |
