Legend of Zelda: A Link to the PastOK, so our headline might be bending the truth to a brittle point, but it is still true! This week’s fresh new downloads on Nintendo’s Virtual Console include a classic medieval fantasy adventure from the SNES and a whip-wielding warrior.

First up is plucky young thing Link in the classic game Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Our young hero receives a telepathic cry for help from Princess Zelda and stumbles on a dark plan that could affect all of Hyrule.

With intuitive gameplay and a gripping storyline, it’s a snip to download at 800 Wii points.

From the fields of Hyrule we travel to the heart of Transylvania, as Konami ’s seminal gothic horror Castlevania hits the Wii.

One of the earliest games to feature a horror story line, Castlevania will get your heart racing – but hopefully its arch villain Dracula won’t get to see how fast your blood is really pumping.

The Nintendo Entertainment System game has you cracking your whip against formidable foes and features a variety of characters such as Death and Medusa.

Microsoft has already given its Xbox 360 download fans some classic Castlevania action, as we reported earlier

Castlevania is yours to download on the Wii for 500 Wii points. A card containing 2000 Wii Points costs £14 - you do the math.
