Streets of RageNintendo's Wii console is proving a particular favourite with gamers as the stock shortages show, but the company isn't relying on its innovative motion sensor technology as the basis for all the fan worship. As proof of that, the Nintendo Virtual Console has added another series of classic games that will have old and new players alike champing at the proverbial bit.

Sega Mega Drive fans in particular get a real treat this week, as Streets Of Rage, Sword of Vermilion and Bio-Hazard Battle are all up for grabs.

The 1991 Streets Of Rage set a new standard for street fighting and gangster-themed games and kicked off a popular trilogy.

The game sees up to two players controlling a team of ex-cops in an unnamed city, where authority has been overturned and violence runs freely on the streets.

Bio-Hazard Battle, on the other hand, is a two-dimensional side-scrolling shoot 'em up game that sees up to two players working together to save their planet from deadly enemies.

The definitive role-playing game Sword of Vermilion rounds out the Sega Mega Drive titles, with players on an enthralling revenge quest to save the world of Vermilion.

Streets of Rage, Bio-Hazard Battle and Sword of Vermilion are available for just 800 Wii Points (£5.60) each.

And, as if those three titles weren't enough, Wii owners also get the chance to enjoy Chew Man Fu.

The former Turbografx (AKA PC Engine) game sees players tackling 550 levels to save egg rolls, fried rice and other Oriental snacks from the villain of the title.

Chew Man Fu is available to download for 600 Wii Points (£4.20).

This week's titles join the list of 54 classic games already available for the Virtual Console in Europe.
