xbox_360.jpgMicrosoft has responded to claims that its Xbox 360 consoles are faulty and charges over the odds for repairs following an expose on BBC's Watchdog programme, aired in the UK last night.

According to the programme, consumers were up in arms with faulty consoles crashing after the warranty period runs out, the so-called "ring of death" where three red lights means you now have a very expensive doopstop instead of a console. People have been charged around £80 to get the next-gen games platform fixed.

Microsoft said that in the US, the company had a higher than expected number of problems. According to an interview run in games industry online mag gamesindustry.biz, the software behemoth said that the vast majority of users had an "outstanding experience" with the console but conceded that it had received "a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected".

"It's important to note that there is no systemic issue with Xbox 360 - each incident is unique and these customer inquiries are being handled on a case-by-case basis," it said in a statement to the publication.

"Anybody having an issue with their Xbox 360 console should call customer service immediately so that we can help. Microsoft voluntarily provides customers with a one year manufacturer's warranty in the UK which operates over and above the legally required retailer warranty for all consumer goods," it said.

Wii owners have no one to blame but themselves for destroying TV sets with Wiimotes playing Wii Sports. Of course, no such problems with PS3 consoles in the UK, there aren't any!!!
