castlevania.jpegIt seems that other consoles are wanting a bit of the virtual console action that Wii provides its gamers. Lo and Behold Xbox is getting in on the retro action with the release of Castelvania: Symphony of the Night. The game will be released today (Wednesday 21 March).

The legendary 2D Konami game is making its way to the Xbox Live arcade after a long gestation. The game sees games take on the role of Alucard, who is the half-vampiric son of Dracula. He basically wanders around the Count's castle trying to collect items, weapons and armour in order to battle and defeat the usual boss monsters at the end of every level. Overcoming these enemies unlock the doors to other levels of the castle.

If you want to get your mitts on the game it will cost you 800 points and the download is around 95MB. For this you get a new makeover version with modern music and sound effects (like it's been on Changing Rooms or something). There are also the usual Xbox accoutrements, including 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points as well.

There is also a try before you buy so you can check out whether a purchase is indeed handing over the points for.
