If reports from Japan are to be believed, games console Wii could soon be sporting a hard drive.
According to Japanese gaming mag Game Laboratory, senior executives of
the Nintendo met in secret to discuss extending the console's present
512MB storage with an external hard drive.
At present, the Xbox 360 has a 20GB hard drive and the PS3 (outside of
the US and Japan) has a 60GB drive. As the number of games available on
Nintendo's virtual console service increase on an almost daily basis,
there is definitely a need to store all those games somewhere and as we
all know 512MB can fill up very quickly.
According to gaming industry mag GamesIndustry.biz, Nintendo were quick
off the mark to deny any rumours of a hard drive for the console but
stopped short at saying the plans were untrue. But the company managed
to confirm in the meantime that a new headset for its DS handheld
console was on the cards and will go on sale next month with a new
Pokemon game. The headset will allow players to talk online to others
while training their animals to do whatever they do in Pokemon.
Luckily Nintendo take the safety and security of players very seriously
and players will only be able to talk to each other if they have
already exchanged friend codes and disabled for all other online
players.
