Running around corridors popping insane lead into ghastly ghouls has always been a winning formula for a first person shooter. Well just to make things interesting, in The Darkness, soon to be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, you are the ghastly ghoul.
Of course any mention of The Darkness is enough to make your arms all goosepimpley and your hairs stand on end, especially when images of a certain long haired rocker come to mind.
Scary? Perhaps. But the game promises to be an even more terrifying experience.
Developed by Starbreeze Studios it tells the tale of Jackie Estacado who has the powers of The Darkness awoken within him.
As the game progresses, he uses these abilities to conquer his enemies by devouring, impaling, imploding and cannibalizing them.
Written with the help of author Paul Jenkins, who created the original comic-book, The Darkness promises gamers “intensely cinematic action”.
